The directors, Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders ( How to Train Your Dragon ), created a "prehistoric fantasy" world where evolution happens at lightning speed. The colors are bioluminescent, the creatures are Dr. Seuss meets Jurassic Park , and the action sequences (like the chase through a collapsing cave or the flight of the "Macawnivore") are breathtaking. Even a decade later, the texture of the fur, the dust, and the flames holds up spectacularly.
