Set against the backdrop of the Sunderbans, Amanush tells the story of Madhusudan Chaudhary, an honest man who turns into an alcoholic after being falsely accused of a crime. The film was a dual-language project, released in Bengali in 1974 and in Hindi in 1975, achieving massive success in both markets.
