The utility is powerful because it operates at a low level, capable of writing the LAf (Download Mode) partition, boot images, and system files. Standard LGUP software (distributed by LG) is restricted. It typically only allows updates if the device is booted into the OS or standard Download Mode, and even then, it checks for matching model numbers and firmware versions.
