Set in 1925, the story follows Rick O'Connell, an American adventurer, and Evelyn Carnahan, a brilliant but clumsy librarian, as they lead an expedition to the lost city of Hamunaptra. Their journey inadvertently awakens Imhotep, an ancient high priest cursed for eternity after an illicit affair with the Pharaoh's mistress.
